Chemonstrating is a passion project by me, Alex Keeley. I have a bachelors' degree in chemistry and I always found visual (and audible!) demonstrations of chemistry principles a fascinating and important tool for visualizing these principles and fostering interest in the study of chemistry. As an undergraduate student I worked prepping and running chemical demonstrations for the teaching labs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In the course of that job I struggled to find good video or even textual explanations of how to conduct some older demonstrations, and this drove me to create a free resource for instructors, or anyone else, to use as a comprehensive demo library. My goal is to produce standardized protocols with video aides for the performance of as many demos as I can get my hands on. Many of the demos I upload, I have received protocols for second- or even third-hand, and I therefore sometimes lack proper citations for some demos. If you have original or better sources for any of the demos you see here, or have a demo you would like to see uploaded, please reach out via the contact page! I would love to hear from you.
